Donald Rumsfeld was an American politician and businessman, who served as the Secretary of Defense under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006 and previously under President Gerald Ford in the mid-1970s. He is best known for his role in the U.S. response to the September 11 attacks and the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as for overseeing the establishment of the Guantánamo Bay detention facility.
