Sumiko Fujii
Sumiko Fujii is a 74-year-old hibakusha who grew up in the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. With a mother and aunt who were also survivors, she became aware of the profound impact of the atomic bomb on her family from a young age. Fujii has dedicated her life to anti-war and anti-nuclear activism, founding the Article 9 Society Hiroshima to promote the pacifist spirit enshrined in Japan's Constitution. Concerned about the rising nationalism among Japanese youth and the recent electoral successes of ultra-right parties, she strives to educate future generations about the horrors of nuclear warfare.
