Schuyler Colfax
Schuyler Colfax was an influential American politician who served as the 17th Vice President of the United States from 1869 to 1873. A member of the Republican Party, he played a significant role in the Reconstruction era and was a prominent advocate for civil rights. Colfax is also remembered for his tenure as Speaker of the House prior to his vice presidency, and he is historically significant for being the last vice president to have a child born during his term until the recent birth of Alec Neel Vance in 2023.
