Christopher Anne Affleck
Christopher Anne Affleck, affectionately known as Chris, was a dedicated educator and activist born in 1942 in New York City. She played a significant role in her community, teaching literacy classes during the Freedom Summer and advocating against the Vietnam War. As one of the first women from Radcliffe to graduate from Harvard, Chris spent over 35 years as a public school teacher, nurturing students from diverse backgrounds. She was the mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, instilling in them a love for the arts from an early age. Chris passed away in June 2026 at the age of 83 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, having achieved her wish to see her grandson graduate high school just days before her passing.
