Bo Xilai
Bo Xilai is a former high-ranking Chinese politician who rose to prominence as the mayor of Dalian and later as the governor of Liaoning province. He was a member of the Politburo and the head of the Chongqing municipality, where he gained a reputation for his populist policies and anti-crime campaigns. His political career came to a dramatic end in 2012 when he was implicated in a corruption scandal that also involved the murder of a British businessman. Bo was subsequently tried and sentenced to life in prison, becoming one of the most high-profile figures to fall victim to China's ongoing anti-corruption campaign led by President Xi Jinping.
