Vasile Nopcsa
Vasile Nopcsa (1794 - 1884) was a prominent nobleman in 19th-century Transylvania, serving as the supreme comite of Hunedoara. He was known for his progressive views and joined the 1848 Blaj Assembly advocating for the rights of the Romanian people in Transylvania, which led to his marginalization by Hungarian elites. His castle was destroyed during the Hungarian Revolution, turning him into a local folk hero.
