Timofej Kuljabin, born in 1984 in Izjevsk, Russia, is a renowned theater and opera director known for his radical reinterpretations of classic plays. After graduating from the Moscow Theatre School in 2007, he gained prominence for his innovative productions, including works by Chekhov, Kafka, and Ibsen. In 2022, he publicly condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine, leading him to emigrate and subsequently take on international projects, including his recent adaptation of Ibsen's "Ghosts" in Malmö. Kuljabin currently bases his work in Berlin and serves as an artistic leader at Staatstheater Cottbus.
