Tilla Durieux was a prominent German actress known for her work during the Weimar Republic. Fleeing from the Nazis, she found refuge in Zagreb, where she lived until 1955. During her time in the city, she became an integral part of the cultural scene, hosting a salon that attracted many artists and intellectuals. Her extensive collection of art and literature was partly bequeathed to the city after her death, including works by renowned artists such as Marc Chagall.
