Teodor Herzl
Teodor Herzl was an Austrian-Hungarian journalist and playwright, best known as the father of modern political Zionism. Born in 1860, Herzl advocated for the establishment of a Jewish state in response to widespread anti-Semitism in Europe. His seminal work, 'Der Judenstaat' (The Jewish State), published in 1896, laid the groundwork for the Zionist movement, which ultimately led to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Herzl's vision and leadership during the First Zionist Congress in 1897 were pivotal in galvanizing support for Jewish statehood.
