He was subsequently forced to work over 18 hours a day without pay and later trapped in a scam involving sexual exploitation. After successfully contacting his family for help, he was rescued by Malaysian authorities and returned to Indonesia in April 2025, where he continues to cope with the trauma of his experiences.
