Nikita Zezin was a prominent Russian agricultural scientist and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, known for his extensive research in agronomy over a career spanning more than 40 years. He was instrumental in reviving corn cultivation in the Ural region and in the breeding of winter triticale, a hybrid of rye and wheat. Zezin authored over 260 scientific papers and was recognized with several prestigious awards for his contributions to agricultural science. Tragically, he died on July 22, 2023, after being brutally attacked while trying to protect crops from children riding quad bikes.
