John Law
John Law (1671-1729) was a Scottish economist and financier who became the Controller General of Finances in France under King Louis XV. He is best known for his role in creating the Mississippi Company in 1717, which aimed to exploit the resources of the French colony of Louisiana. Law's ambitious financial schemes led to the first major stock market bubble in history, known as the Mississippi Bubble, ultimately resulting in a catastrophic financial collapse. His innovative ideas about currency and banking had a lasting impact on economic thought and practices.
