Jawad Merroun
Jawad Merroun was a Moroccan who became a symbol of friendship between Morocco and Turkey after losing his life during the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey. Originally from Tangier, he moved to Istanbul in 2010, where he worked as a tour guide. On the night of July 15, 2016, he joined the demonstrations to defend Turkish democracy and was tragically killed near the TRT headquarters. His legacy continues to be honored in annual commemorations, highlighting the deep connections between the two nations.
