Inés de Escobar was one of the first Spanish women to arrive in Panama in 1510, accompanying her husband, Juan de Caicedo, a wealthy businessman and overseer in the expedition of Diego de Nicuesa. Known for her entrepreneurial spirit, she is believed to have opened one of the first inns in Tierra Firme, contributing to the early colonial society.
