Ignas Kaijus
Ignas Kaijus was a 25-year-old Lithuanian volunteer who tragically lost his life while fighting alongside Ukrainian forces against Russian aggression. He became the third Lithuanian citizen reported killed in the conflict since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Kaijus joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces in February, serving as an assistant grenade launcher in an infantry unit primarily composed of foreign volunteers. His disappearance on June 2 was followed by confirmation of his death after the area he was in came under heavy fire from Russian troops. His commitment to the fight for freedom was commemorated by high-ranking Lithuanian officials, including a wreath laid by President Gitanas Nausėda, who praised his bravery and selflessness.
