Hermila Galindo
Hermila Galindo was a prominent Mexican suffragist and politician known for her groundbreaking advocacy for women's rights in the early 20th century. In 1916, she presented an initiative to the Congress of Querétaro that sought to grant women the right to vote, arguing against the injustice of women's political disenfranchisement. Despite her efforts and her candidacy for federal deputy in 1917, the initiative was ultimately rejected. Galindo's activism laid important groundwork for the eventual recognition of women's suffrage in Mexico in 1953.
