Franklin Iwan Robles, known simply as Frank, was a pioneering figure in Suriname's tourism industry and the former director of Hotel Torarica. With a career spanning several decades, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Suriname Hotel and Tourism Association (Shata) and was recognized for his visionary leadership and dedication to hotel management. Robles was notable for his commitment to improving tourism standards and education in Suriname, believing strongly in the potential of the country as a tourist destination. He passed away on June 10 at the age of 81, after a long illness.
