Fatana, 25, is a former law and political science student whose education was cut short when the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan. Now living in one of the northern provinces, she works as a teacher while grappling with the emotional toll of seeing her students' dreams stifled after sixth grade. Fatana strives to encourage her students despite the oppressive conditions, fearing that many will face forced marriages and lose their hopes for a better future.
