Blake Carlin
Blake Carlin is the newly appointed principal of Ōtūmoetai Intermediate, following a distinguished 26-year tenure of his predecessor, Henk Popping. Carlin began his educational career as a teacher at Tauranga Intermediate in 2003, eventually becoming deputy principal before leading Pyes Pā School from 2017. He is passionate about intermediate education, emphasizing the importance of creating a sense of belonging and empowering students to explore their identities. With a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Carlin is committed to adapting the school to meet the needs of emerging adolescents while maintaining its strong traditions. Outside of education, he enjoys gardening and participating in a fantasy surfing league.
