Alexis Stamatis was a renowned Greek author born on July 19, 1960, in Athens. He was the son of architect Kostas Stamatis and actress Betty Arvaniti. Over his prolific career, he published twenty novels and a total of 34 books, exploring various genres including novels, poetry, theater, and screenplay writing. Notable works include 'Bar Flaubert', 'Villa Combray', and 'American Fugue', the latter of which received an international literary award in the United States and was translated into English. He studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in architecture and film in London. Since 2017, he was a regular columnist for the newspaper 'To Vima'. Stamatis passed away at the age of 66 after battling a rare blood disease.
