Aleksandr Kozjevnikov, known by his French alias Alexandre Kojève, was a prominent Russian-born philosopher and intellectual whose lectures on Hegel in the 1930s significantly influenced a generation of Parisian thinkers. His ideas later played a crucial role in Francis Fukuyama's concept of the 'end of history' in the 1990s. After a distinguished academic career, he served as a bureaucrat in Brussels, where he was involved in negotiating trade agreements for France, earning the title of 'civil servant for humanity' from a colleague.
