Abylai Khan
Abylai Khan (1711–1781) was a prominent leader and military commander who played a crucial role in the unification of the Kazakh Khanate during the 18th century. He is remembered for his strategic prowess and diplomatic skills, as well as for his efforts to protect Kazakh sovereignty against external threats, particularly from the Russian and Dzungar empires. His legacy is celebrated in Kazakh history, and his portrait was featured on the first series of the national currency, the tenge.
